I have always adored the quaint and unique charm of small towns….tiny specialty shops & boutiques, hole in the wall cafes and restaurants with exquisite, homemade delicacies, and hidden hot spots that only a local knows how to find. For years, I have been dying to visit the sweet Texas town of Fredericksburg, but never seemed to find the time, until my husband surprised me with a weekend trip for my birthday last year.
Filled with all of the charm that a small town has to offer, and topped off with amazing Bed & Breakfast options and the best strip of wineries Texas has to offer, our trip to Fredericksburg was truly a blast! Here are a few highlights, and must stop spots for those of you who find yourself in that neck of the woods.
The Chuck Wagon Inn: Our amazingly charming and lovingly run Bed & Breakfast! Run by the hugely hospitable & humorous husband & wife team, Sam & Becky Higgins, I cannot recommend it enough. We were served homemade breakfast tacos and biscuits each morning and filled with stories to last the day long!
My husband and I are both huge Texas Country Music fans, so had to make a stop in Luckenbach. I’m not really sure how to describe it other than by saying it was like nothing I’ve ever seen….definitely worth a visit!
While we stopped at many wineries, our favorites included the beautiful Becker Vineyards and the eclectic new Four Point Winery…but don’t take my word for it. Each winery has a unique twist and highlights different aspects of the experience so you simply must decide for yourself.
While I don’t have a picture to show, it would be a crime not mentioning a lovely little spot known as Alamo Springs Restaurant. Good Nelly. They say that the burgers are the best around, but truly, in all my life, I have never had anything so yummy. If you go ANYWHERE in Fredericksburg at all…..you must make a burger stop here. You will thank me later!
There is so much more that I can share, but will leave you with pictures. I cannot wait to go back!
