Introducing Mayhar’s Newest Member

We are beyond excited to introduce to you our newest member to the Mayhar team…our amazing cousin, Tori! She has an incredible eye for decor and design, and she is a talented, beautiful and wonderful woman. She is an avid blog reader and is actually the one who introduced us to Pinterest many months ago before it became the newest, popular social media channel.

Tori lives in Fort Worth with her husband of seven years, Adam, and her two precious little ones, Sami and Ben. She was brilliant in her decision to document her children through the wonderful talent of Melissa Zihlman. How amazing is the video/photo montage below?

Now, here’s a fun little questionnaire for you to get to know our talented cousin, Tori!

1) How would you describe your style?
My style is a mix of traditional and sentimental (if this is a style), coastal and rustic.  This conglomeration of styles stems from different influences in my life. I grew up in the south with a more traditional family in more traditional homes.  I am definitely a traditional girl who appreciates family heirlooms and pieces passed down from generation to generation.  My home is filled with furniture, dishes and accessories that have been given to me by my mom and my grandmothers. My family also took many beach vacations, which I loved. I enjoy the feel of the sand, the wind and the salty water, having sun kissed skin and the beauty that surrounds us at the beach.  I tend to lean more towards colors inspired by the coast. Because I love home design and decorating, I pay attention to the current trends.  This is where the rustic comes in.  I love the aged look you are seeing a lot of places which gives furniture a story.  It makes you wonder where this piece has been and adds so much texture and color to your space.  My hope is that all these influences and styles come together to create a comfortable, welcoming and beautiful look.

2) What’s your favorite room in your house?
Right now, I would have to say my breakfast nook.  It is where my family really connects, with each other and with friends and family.  We have this amazing table we bought from our pastor and his wife that is an old farm house table painted in turquoise.  The table has eight leaves, we can fit sixteen people around it.  We have added functional and beautiful built ins around the window with a window seat.  The seat cushions and pillows were designed by my friends at a local store called Simple Things here in Fort Worth.  Everything works so well together to create a comfortable and beautiful space where so many memories are being made.

3) What makes you smile?
My husband makes me smile.  He is always so complimentary of me, always telling me how beautiful I am or how smart or talented.  He loves me so well!  He has such a positive outlook on life and keeps our home fun and light!  My kids make me smile daily with the things they say, the way the giggle, their unexpected hugs and kisses and their unique personalities.  I have two precious, sweet kiddos.  I am so very blessed.

4) If you were a super hero, who would you be?
Well, I’ve never thought of myself as a superhero.  I’m used to my daughter asking me which princess I am (Sleeping Beauty, by the way)! So, I found a quiz online to find out which superhero I am most like and the results said Wonder Woman.  It also said I am a beautiful princess with great strength of character.  I like the sound of that!
