The weather has been a bit crazy – snow in Colorado and Arkansas…and it’s the first week of May! I wish that would be indicative of a cooler summer, but I know that’s not the case.
We are very fortunate here in Texas for one last enjoyable glimpse of spring – this past weekend the cooler weather meant 55-degree mornings and a really lovely opportunity to go for a walk in the park. With 100-degree weather just around the corner, I jumped at the opportunity for one of the last pleasant strolls I’ll be able to have before fall arrives.
My go-to spot? Eisenhower Park – a quick 2-minute drive from my house!
People don’t often think of Texas tumbleweed, wild flowers and cactus as a lovely sight, but there’s something about being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air and sounds of wildlife. I highly encourage you to stop by Eisenhower Park – trees line the pathways, roadrunners scurry across the trail, and it’s a welcome break from your daily stresses.
We love going to Eisenhower Park! My husband takes our little girl and our puppy there every weekend but unfortunately I usually miss out since it’s wedding season!
I absolutely love it! I try to go there every weekend to do some trail running (usually ends up being walking because the inclines can be very tough). This past weekend was the first time I’d taken my dog with me, and she loved it. She might have a new favorite place. 🙂
We’ve never checked out Eisenhower park. I’ll have to put it on our to do list!
It’s so relaxing! I consider it my little “getaway” since I don’t have time for a vacation any time soon. I come home feeling revitalized – I see people there all the time with the whole family (dogs included).

I really like it! Although, I have to admit, I’ve only been to a few parks in town so I don’t have a lot of comparisons. I just love that there is hiking and there are paved as well as natural trails. I see families there all the time, as well as groups doing nature excursions. Fun for the avid nature enthusiast or someone (like me) who just likes to feel like I’m getting away for an hour or so.
