A Birthday for Banana and Buy the Burritos

A Birthday for Banana and Buy the Burritos

And a GIVEAWAY for a sweet little gal…..

I can hardly believe it…Hannah (my little Banana) is one!!  This sweet gal of mine is joyful to the core and I was so excited to plan a special birthday party for her….One that I hoped would be beautiful and joyful and have all of the little girly touches.   Knowing that we were going to host a small family gathering at our home I chose to focus on pretty colors and details…nothing super specific, just all of the pretty things.

I knew I wanted all shades of pastel and I knew that I wanted all of the little gals and guys in attendance to have a ball!  We settled on a Mexican themed luncheon, complete with  strawberry margaritas and pink watermelon lemonade; a jewelry making station with brightly colored felt beads; handmade favor bags for each little lady in attendance; homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches and a pink inflatable pool with floating flamingoes.  I can’t say that any of it made much sense, but who says that a first birthday party needs to make sense, right??

I dearly love hosting at home, but it can be super stressful. For this party, I wanted so badly to celebrate and not have to worry about watching over things too much. See below for some little “cheats” that made this day SO much better! I hope you enjoy!

BUY THE BURRITOS

So, technically they were enchiladas, but at the end of the day I was terrified of hand rolling enchiladas for 25 people and having it all done in time. Agh!! Instead, I had a local restaurant make them for me in my own casserole dishes and we picked them up right before we were going to serve them. Single handledly, THE best decision I made. 😉

SKIP THE DISHES

I love using real dishes and glassware when I have guests over. Unfortunately, it leads to the messiest looking kitchen and it makes me a total and complete crazy human. For Hannah’s party I didn’t want to have to think about dishes AT ALL. Soooo, I popped over to Meri Meri and bought darling paper goods. And on top of that, found fun and inexpensive plastic cups that each guest could decorate and then take home as a favor!! Woohoo! Easy Breezy.

PICK AND CHOOSE YOUR SPECIAL ITEMS

I wanted some special “homemade” treats at the party, but often become quickly overwhelmed and all of my once great ideas become the major stresses of my life. For this day, I let myself pick TWO items only….1. Handmade petite fabric favor bags for each of Hannah’s little cousins (from fabric I already had) that they could carry and also take home with them. And 2. Homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Y’all, so yummy and so much easier than trying to make a cake for all of the peeps….

A Little Giveaway….

If you have a sweet little lady in your life, in need of a little bag, pop below and leave us a comment. I will be picking one of the comments and sending a bag your way!

My sweet friend and super talented photographer, Lucy Struve, came over after the party to help me capture just a few of the little details. We hope that you enjoyed popping through them!
