DIY: Sparkle Word Art

For our week of sparkle, we wanted to do a fun and easy DIY project to add just a touch a sass and merriment to your holiday decor. There are so many words and images that make you feel warm and wintery…why not frame a few with a touch of glimmer.

Here’s what you need:

• One (1) picture frame
• Two (2) thick pieces of paper, or picture frame matte in the color of your choice
• An exacto knife
• Glue
• Glitter
• Paint Sponge
• Sharpie

1. Start by cutting your thick paper to fit within your frame. You will need two (2) pieces. One will serve as your stencil and the other will be your finished artwork.
2. On your stencil paper, draw your design. I chose the word “Noel” but it could be anything; a dove, holly leaves, or any holiday word…whatever you like. You will just need to draw the outline and may want to keep it fairly simple, so that the design transfers well.
3. Once your design is drawn, you will use your exacto knife to cut out the shape.
4. When your stencil is cut and prepped, lay it on top of your second piece of cardboard or matte paper, and paint glue into the cut out spaces.
5. Finally, drizzle with glitter!
6. Let it stand for a while to dry and then lift your stencil…you will have a beautifully festive new piece of artwork to frame for your shelf, mantle or any other place that needs some holiday pizzaz!
